German rider continues to dominate STK1000 series

It’s hard to have a better weekend than breaking the lap record, pole position and taking the race win, and that’s what happened for Markus Reiterberger (alpha Racing-Van Zon-BMW) in the MOTUL Dutch Round.

Dominating the European Superstock 1000 Championship, the German rider is flawless on his BMW S 1000RR and is doing so in stunning style. Taking the victory in The Netherlands by 5.5s, Reiterberger got a stunning start from pole position and was soon able to pull a comfortable lead in the opening lap, and never looked back. Setting the fastest lap along the way, he rode a flawless race to take the victory and as a result he now leads the championship by 10 points.

Humble in his success, the 24 year old explains: “The weekend was perfect, and we had a good pace from the beginning. We had already beaten the 2017 lap record by FP3, and we definitely didn’t expect that. Although we were already really fast, my team was able to go one better and everyone of my crew did a flawless job during the weekend.

“During the race I was able to fulfill our tactics and put a gap between Tamburini in the first lap, and I managed to extend the gap up to five seconds until the end. 25 championship points, the lead in the overall standings, pole position, lap record – what more could you wish for.”
